Boundaries. Comfort zones. Edges.

These words have circled around me for years — in my work, in my coaching, and in my life as a mother.

For so long, I believed my job was to create comfort — for my clients, my family, and especially for my two girls. I was the soft place to land, the listening ear, the emotional anchor.

But as my daughters grow, I see something new. They don’t need me to protect them from discomfort anymore, they need me to believe in their courage to move through it.

We expect this as parents; we see our children tackling their comfort zones almost every day. That’s what they’re supposed to do – learn, try new things, get to that next level of accomplishment and personal development. Our children do it all the time – and yet, as adults, when we reach the edge of our comfort zone it’s a much bigger deal.

The Moving Edge of Confidence

When I first wrote about comfort zones years ago, courage meant taking risks — launching a business, saying yes to opportunities that scared me, speaking up when it mattered most.

But what I’ve learned since then is this: your edge keeps moving.

What once required courage becomes your new normal.
What once made you doubt yourself becomes the foundation of your confidence.
And then, right when things start to feel steady — a new edge appears.

That’s where I find myself today, again. I’ve outgrown the current version of me. I’m standing at the edge of what I know I can do — ready to push the ceiling of my own capability and rise into a bolder, more expansive version of myself. It’s something I find I keep doing to myself, year after year. Seeking new experiences and trying new things. That comfort zone is always slightly out of reach with me, because I keep moving the bar.

How about you?

When You Outgrow the Old You

You can feel it before you can name it — that quiet restlessness, that desire for something a little different; to shake things up a little.

You’re grateful for how far you’ve come, but something inside whispers: It’s time for more.
Not more hustle or more busyness — more depth, more meaning, more you, or perhaps it’s an updated version of you that you’re seeking.

The old you has served, there’s no question. But perhaps you’re now at the crossroads of something, that has you taking a breath, looking around, and then asking yourself; Is it time for me now? Who do I want to be at this new intersection of my life?

You’ve built confidence in who you’ve been. Now courage calls you to step into who you’re becoming.

This is the space between comfort and expansion. The edge where fear and possibility dance together.

Confidence Is Earned at the Edge

Where does this confidence come from?

Here’s what I know: Confidence isn’t built in comfort — it’s built in motion.
Every time you stretch beyond what feels safe, your confidence expands to meet you. Confidence is built on experience and knowing that you’ve tried new things before and succeeded – and you can do it again.

And courage? Why is that needed? Courage is the spark that gets you moving.

Courage is saying yes before you feel ready.
It’s trusting yourself when outcomes are uncertain.
It’s believing that even if you fall, you’ll rise again — wiser, braver, stronger.

This is how we grow — not by staying small, but by daring to meet ourselves at the edge of our comfort zone,

Here’s My Edge Right Now

I’m stepping into my next level — expanding my leadership programs, writing more boldly, and taking up space in ways that used to make me hesitate.

It’s uncomfortable. It’s thrilling. It’s growth. I’m consciously trying to write more authentically and speaking about things that are sometimes unsaid, but very real. Trying to build connection and show women that they are not alone. What they are experiencing, others are experiencing their own version of.

It’s vulnerable and sometimes a bit edgy. And it’s reminding me daily that confidence and courage aren’t destinations — they’re muscles we strengthen every time we say yes to possibility.

Your Turn

How about you?
Where are you being called to stretch your confidence?
What edge is asking for your courage right now?

You do know that the only person keeping you inside your comfort zone is you.

And beyond that edge? That’s where the magic happens.

Where is life calling you next? What would you try if you had the courage and the confidence to go for it? I invite you to dance in that delicious space and see what might be possible on the other side of your comfort zone.
